Tournaments

Tournaments

Tournaments on Taern occur often, usually averaging one per week. In December the |Christmas Event usually means there are no tournaments, but for the rest of the year tournaments are frequent.

What is a Tournament?

Tournaments are PvP fights that take place in a controlled arena, usually broken up by level range or class. Tournaments take place in the Arena at Trentis. Tournaments are announced beforehand, and players usually have an hour beforehand to sign in to the arena. Tournaments can be team based or solo - when signing into solo tournaments, the player's name is the team name, but when signing into team events with more than one player, the team itself can be named. A player can participate in a tournament on their main character or any of their alts.

Most Tournaments Include:

  • 1v1 players within a level range
  • 2v2 players within a level range
  • 3v3 players within a level range
  • 4v4 players within a level range
  • 5v5 players within a level range

Special Tournaments

Special Tournaments are rarer but do occur.

  • New player tournaments can only include players whose account is less than 60 days old.
  • Class based tournaments mean only players of a specific class can sign into the arena.
  • All level tournaments mean everyone in the game can sign in
  • Pet tournaments don't take place at arena, but can happen with careful observation.

Tournament Rules

  • Players have until the closing time to sign in. Any attempts to sign in following the closing time will be blocked.
  • The MSL - maximum sum of levels - is each team member's level added together. The total levels cannot exceed the MSL or the exceeding player will be blocked from joining the team.
  • Bad behaviour during tournaments will be punished more severely.
  • Cheating is a bannable offense. Accusations of cheating with no evidence is not allowed.
  • If the battle is not finished within 25 rounds, the team that has dealt the most damage will automatically win the fight.
  • If a team wins 2-to-0, they will move forward. A third battle will take place if a tie needs to be broken.
  • Players have two minutes once the first round of the tournament begins to enter the fight room and hit ready. Players who do not hit ready within that time do not join the fight.
  • If an entire team does not enter the fight room, the other team will win.
  • If neither team enter the fight room, a team is picked at random to move forward.

Bugs/Problems?

If you have any trouble with tournaments, report it immediately to a moderator. Do not wait until after the tournament is finished and prizes have been allocated to report a bug.
