Rare item - as shown by name, these items are hard to find. They add more stats, than ordinary items. they can be gained from bosses, but a chance for that is very small.

Psychorare item - give less stats points, but can also interfere with the character's abilities. The bonuses they give are better and better when the item gains level, but to maintain the bonuses the item must be charged with Essence.
